Embarking on your Summer holiday abroad?

There’ve been quite a few changed in Airline Carry-on allowances* since last summer…

So, here at Snapperstuff we’ve put together a list of some popular airlines to help you on your journey.

We have also given you some suggestions for Think Tank Photo bags that are within the relevant airline’s carry-on allowance guidelines.

We’ve listed the maximum carry-on items, weights & dimensions for popular flights out of the UK & Ireland:

Aer Lingus

  • One carry-on bag & one personal item
  • Carry-on bag = max. weight of 10kg  with max. dimensions of 55cm H (21.5″) x 40cm W (15.5″) x 24cm D (9.5″) – note: Carry-on baggage must fit inside the gauge units at the airport (including wheels and handles)
  • Personal item (ladies handbag, gents satchel, duty free shopping bag, etc.) = This personal item must be placed under the seat in front & may not exceed: 25cm H (10″) x 33cm W (13″) x 20cm D (8″)

  • The bag must fit in the baggage frames located throughout the check-in area at the airport.

  • Hand baggage does not have any weight restrictions but must have a maximum length of 55cm, width of 40cm and depth of 23cm. These dimensions include wheels, handles, side pockets, etc. You will not be allowed to pass through security with hand baggage, which exceeds the specified dimensions. Any customer attempting to do so, will be redirected to check-in and asked to check in their bag into the hold

British Airways

  • You are allowed one piece of hand baggage plus a laptop or handbag
  • A 23kg maximum bag weight applies and you must be able to lift the bag unaided into the overhead lockers in the aircraft cabin
  • Your main piece of hand baggage is up to the dimensions 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22in x 18in x 10in), including the handle, pockets and wheels
  • Your bag must fit into the bag gauge, available at the check-in area
  • Your laptop or handbag is up to the dimensions 45cm x 36cm x 20cm (18in x 14in x 8in), including the handle and pockets
  • Your laptop or handbag must fit under the seat in front of you.

easyJet

  • dimensions must be no more than 50 x 40 x 20cm for easyJet to guarantee that “it will travel with you either in the overhead locker or, if necessary, under the seat in front of you”
  • OR easyJet plus cardholders, FLEXI fare, easyJet plus Upfront or Extra Legroom customers, can continue to bring ONE piece of cabin baggage no bigger than 56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels – and use easyJet plus Speedy Boarding to board first in order to secure space in the overhead lockers

Monarch – (Scheduled flights – flight numbers starting with ZB)

  • One piece of hand baggage no bigger than 56 x 40 x 25cm (there’ll be a size gauge at the airport to check this) and no heavier than 10kg, plus a small duty free bag from the departure airport.
  • OR Two separate pieces of hand baggage, as long as the combined size is no bigger than 56 x 40 x 25cm and the combined weight no heavier than 10kg, plus a small duty free bag from the departure airport.
  • Monarch also say: “There is limited space onboard, and we are sorry but on busy flights we cannot guarantee that we can fit all baggage in the cabin. Taking two smaller bags and placing one under the seat in front of you will help to avoid your baggage being placed in the hold.”
